Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 20 -- The Kerala Vigilance Department will investigate allegations of large-scale irregularities in the purchase of bleaching powder by the Kerala Medical Services Corporation Limited (KMSCL).

The decision follows media reports that the purchase of bleaching powder by KMSCL between March 11 and May 6, 2026, resulted in an unnecessary expenditure of Rs 7.32 crore.

Health and Devaswom Minister K. Muraleedharan has said he had written to the Home Minister seeking a Vigilance probe into the alleged irregularities. Following the allegations, he had earlier directed the Health Department Principal Secretary to conduct an inquiry, and a report was subsequently submitted.
