Thiruvananthapuram, July 6 -- The Kerala government has ordered a statewide audit of all major medical equipment procured by the Health Department over the past decade amid allegations that several costly machines remain unused, uninstalled or have become non-functional due to poor maintenance.
Health and Devaswom Minister K. Muralidharan has directed the Health Department Principal Secretary to constitute an expert committee comprising senior officials and technical specialists to conduct the inquiry.
The panel has been asked to submit a comprehensive report within two weeks, identifying lapses, fixing responsibility and recommending further action.
