Thiruvananthapuram, Feb. 12 -- Kerala's Responsible Tourism (RT) Mission has emerged as a global model for women's empowerment while strengthening the rural economy through sustainable and inclusive initiatives, Tourism Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas said.

The Minister noted that with 26,000 RT units operating across Kerala, nearly 1.5 lakh families are direct beneficiaries of various projects under the RT Mission.

"The fact that 80 percent of RT units are led by women reflects the success of Kerala's gender-inclusive tourism model and the state's commitment to the UN's Gender Inclusive Tourism policy," Riyas said.
