Chennai, Aug. 26 -- Kerala's traditional harvest festival of Onam, was celebrated by as Malayalees across Tamil Nadu with religious fervour, colourful pookalams, and traditional gaiety.
Onam, called Thiruonam, the national festival of Keralam, is an annual harvest and Hindu cultural festival celebrated mostly by the people of Kerala and is traditionally associated with the legend of the benevolent King Mahabali, who once ruled Kerala, returning each year to visit his people. A major annual event for Keralites, it is the official festival of the state that contained a spectrum of cultural events.
