Thiruvananthapuram, July 11 -- Kerala's preventive and community-based healthcare model is crucial to tackling the rising burden of diabetes, State Health Minister K Muraleedharan said on Saturday, calling for wider adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and stronger public-private partnerships to improve patient care.

Inaugurating the 14th Annual Global Diabetes Convention here, the Minister said diabetes has emerged as one of India's biggest public health challenges and requires a combination of early detection, technology-driven interventions and evidence-based clinical practice.
