Thiruvananthapuram, June 27 -- Kerala reported 10 fresh cases of Shigella infection on Saturday, taking the state's tally for June to 190 cases, while six deaths linked to the disease have been reported during the month, according to the Health Department.

The latest cases include five from Malappuram, four from Kozhikode and one from Wayanad. With the new additions, the total number of confirmed Shigella cases in the state this year has risen to 266.

Kozhikode, Malappuram and Wayanad have recorded the highest number of infections in June. Shigella outbreaks have been officially declared in Kozhikode (65 cases), Wayanad (26), Thrissur (13) and Alappuzha (5). Other districts reporting infections this month include Malappuram (30), Thiruvan...
