Kochi, June 5 -- The Kerala High Court has dismissed an appeal filed by Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL) challenging the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) investigation into the alleged monthly payment controversy, paving the way for the central agency to proceed with its probe.

A Division Bench comprising Justices A. Raja Vijayaraghavan and K.V. Jayakumar upheld an earlier single-judge order permitting the investigation to continue.

The court ruled that the ED can carry out its investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) even without the registration of an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR).
