Thiruvananthapuram, Feb. 13 -- The Kerala Cabinet has approved a draft urban policy, making Kerala the first state in the country to formally adopt a comprehensive plan that lays down a long-term development roadmap for the next 25 years.
The policy is designed to guide the state's rapidly expanding urban landscape in a structured and sustainable manner.
The Urban Policy was prepared by the Local Self-Government Department and received the cabinet clearance at a meeting held on Friday.
The move follows an announcement made in the 2023-24 state Budget about the formulation of a dedicated urban framework.
