Thiruvananthapuram, July 1 -- The Kerala Legislative Assembly on Wednesday passed a resolution urging the union Government to withdraw the proposed amendments to the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA), 2026, and the related Rules, with the motion receiving the support of all parties except the BJP.
Moving the resolution, Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan said the proposed amendments would significantly expand the powers of the Central Government, including enabling it to take over the assets and management of organisations whose FCRA registrations are cancelled, surrendered or allowed to expire.
