Thiruvananthapuram, June 2 -- Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan has announced that the State Government has set an ambitious target of increasing daily milk production to 100 lakh litres (one crore litres) within the next three years, with the objective of achieving self-sufficiency in the dairy sector.
"Kerala currently produces around 70 lakh litres of milk per day against a daily requirement of 86 lakh litres. Alongside efforts to increase production, the government will extend full support to ventures engaged in manufacturing value-added dairy products," the Chief Minister said while inaugurating the state-level World Milk Day celebrations at Jawahar Cooperative Bhavan here.
