Thrissur, April 27 -- Thrissur Pooram, a cultural extravaganza and spectacle like no other, was held today, mesmerizing tens ofthousands of people at Vadakkumnathan maidan here.
The Pooram, known as the "Mother of all poorams", was celebrated in all its splendour with majestic caparisoned elephants and ensemble of percussion artistes and Kudamattam (exchange of colourful parasols).
Despite the recent fireworks tragedy that left 15 workers dead and many injured, the Paramekkavu and Thiruvambadi devaswom, the two stakeholders of the pooram, decided to scale down the festivities.
