Kozhikode, Sept. 6 -- A 45-year-old man, Ratheesh from Sulthan Bathery in Wayanad district, who had been undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital (KMCH), succumbed to amoebic meningitis.
Total death cases rose to four within a month at KMCH, and 11 more patients have been undergoing treatment for the same disease. Of them, two were in a critical condition as of this morning.
A 10-year-old boy from Malappuram was the most recent person diagnosed with amoebic meningoencephalitis - also known as amoebic meningitis - a rare and often fatal brain infection, on September 4.
