Kochi, June 1 -- In a remarkable display of human compassion and medical expertise, Aster Medcity here successfully performed its first-ever heart transplant.

The donor heart was airlifted from Kannur and transplanted into a 48-year-old patient from Malappuram, offering him a new lease of life.

The donor, a 23-year-old man from Kannur, was declared brain dead at Aster MIMS Hospital, Kannur, following a severe road accident. In an extraordinary act of generosity, his parents consented to donate four organs, enabling life-saving treatment for multiple patients across Kerala.

While the heart was allocated to Aster Medcity, Kochi, the liver was accepted by Baby Memorial Hospital, Kozhikode, and the kidneys were allotted to Aster MIMS, Kozhik...
