Kottayam, April 29 -- The Kerala Motor Vehicles Department has imposed a fine on former Director General of Police Tomin J. Thachankary for displaying an official star insignia on his car years after retiring from service.
The violation came to light when Thachankary appeared at a Vigilance court in Kottayam, where officials noticed a three-star board inside his vehicle. Though partially covered, the insignia became visible during inspection.
Authorities found that the emblem, which signifies official rank, had been retained in the car allegedly for ease of parking. A fine of Rs 250 was issued, which Thachankary has since paid.
