Palakkad, March 5 -- Senior CPI(M) leader and former Shoranur MLA, P. K. Sasi, was expelled from the primary membership of the party hours after inaugurating a convention of Marxist Janathyapathya Kootayama, called by party dissidents at Parvathy auditorium in Chandranagar, on Thursday. CPI(M) district secretary EN Suresh Babu announced the expulsion, citing anti-party activities.

Sasi, ex-chairman of the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) and CITU district president, was a member of the Nayadippara branch of the Kottopadam local committee near Mannarkkad. He had resigned as KTDC chairman on February 19 following an internal feud.
