Palakkad, March 17 -- A Suresh of Malampuzha, former personal assistant (PA) to late Chief Minister and CPI(M) Polit Bureau member V. S. Achuthanandhan, joined the Congress party today.
He took membership from District Congress Committee (DCC) president A Thankappan at the DCC office, where party workers accorded him a warm reception. Thankappan draped him in a tricolour shawl.
Speaking to the media later, Suresh said the Congress is the only capable party of countering communal forces and announced he will contest from Malampuzha assembly constituency on an Indian National Congress (INC) ticket as a United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate in the April 9 election.
