Kendrapara, June 10 -- Kendrapara Town Police on Wednesday registered a murder case in connection with the death of a Dalit youth who was found hanging from the first-floor staircase railing of the Kendrapara Collectorate premises last week.
Police registered the case after the deceased's father, Sarat Chandra Das, lodged an FIR alleging that his son may have been murdered and that the body was later hanged to make the incident appear to be a case of suicide.
The Officer-in-Charge (IIC) of Kendrapara Town Police Station, who is leading the investigation, said a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered based on the complaint, and an inquiry has been initiated.
