Guwahati, July 14 -- The first Grassland Bird Survey of the Kaziranga national park and tiger reserve has recorded a total of 43 grassland bird species including one critically endangered, two endangered, and six vulnerable species, along with several species endemic to the region, as per the IUCN Red List.

A senior official of the park said this today adding that the outcome of the survey in terms of the records of the birds made it one of the highest grassland bird diversity in the country.

The first ever grassland bird survey in Kaziranga is a landmark step for wildlife conservation in northeast India and it has made, said the park officials while officially releasing its First Grassland Bird Survey Report.
