Rajanna Sircilla, July 28 -- Telangana Rakshana Sena chief Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Tuesday demanded Rs 1 crore compensation for each of the Nerella police torture victims, including the family of Gandham Gopal, who recently died following prolonged health complications allegedly caused by police "third-degree" torture.
After visiting Gopal's family and other victims in Nerella, Kavitha described the 2017 incident as a blot on Telangana's history and questioned why no senior police officers or those allegedly responsible for the illegal sand transport-related atrocities had been punished even after nine years.
