Srinagar, Aug. 19 -- The United States is reviewing its travel advisory for Jammu and Kashmir and will assess whether the current warning should be downgraded, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor said on Wednesday after meeting Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Srinagar.
Addressing a joint media briefing with Omar during his first visit to Jammu and Kashmir since assuming office, Gor described the union Territory as an "important part of India" and acknowledged the steps taken by the administration to improve security in the region.
While clarifying that no immediate announcement was being made, the ambassador said Washington periodically reviews its travel advisories and would re-examine the one currently in place for Jammu and Kashmir.
