Varanasi, Aug. 16 -- Thousands of devotees gathered at the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi on Sunday, a day before the third Monday of the holy month of Shravan, considered an auspicious day for worshippers of Lord Shiva.
Long queues of devotees, stretching for nearly two kilometres, formed outside the temple from early morning as pilgrims arrived to offer prayers at the shrine.
Police and civil administration officials stepped up security measures to manage the large crowds, with the situation being monitored using drone cameras. Several teams were deployed across the area to regulate the movement of devotees and maintain order.
