Bengaluru, July 12 -- Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Sunday announced that legendary playback singer S Janaki will be accorded full state honours during her last rites in Mysuru, honouring her final wish.
Paying tribute to the iconic singer, who passed away on Saturday at the age of 88, the Chief Minister said Janaki's contribution to Indian music was unparalleled and assured that the state government would ensure a dignified farewell.
Shivakumar said Janaki, who recorded over 40,000 songs in multiple Indian languages during a career spanning more than six decades, had a special bond with Mysuru. Though she lived in Hyderabad, she had wished to spend her final days in Mysuru and her family had decided to perform her last rites ...
