Bengaluru, Aug. 25 -- The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Karnataka has entered a crucial phase with the release of the draft electoral roll, which contains 4,46,80,151 voters, while the Election Commission has begun the process of issuing notices to 43.81 lakh voters whose details could not be mapped or verified.

Chief Electoral Officer V Anbu Kumar said 1,07,07,339 names were not carried forward to the draft electoral roll during the SIR exercise. These included 65,45,679 voters who had permanently shifted, 16,39,864 deceased voters, 7,91,870 duplicate or bogus entries, 15,742 untraceable voters and 3,83,884 cases under other categories.
