Bengaluru, July 29 -- Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) V Anbu Kumar on Wednesday defended the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls amid criticism from political parties and concerns over voter verification, asserting that the exercise had achieved 92.2 per cent progress and would be completed by August 8 in a "fully transparent" manner and strictly in accordance with the law.
Seeking to allay apprehensions over the revision process, Anbu Kumar told reporters that voters categorised as "Absent" or "Shifted" were not being deleted from the electoral rolls, but had merely not been found at the addresses recorded during the house-to-house verification.
