Bengaluru, Sept. 8 -- Karnataka authorities have seized expired and mislabelled food products worth Rs 1.38 crore during a major enforcement drive, raising serious concerns over the sale and storage of unsafe food items in the state.

The Food Safety and Drugs Administration carried out inspections at food establishments and storage facilities as part of intensified checks to ensure compliance with food safety and labelling regulations.

The enforcement teams detected food products that had either crossed their expiry dates or failed to meet prescribed labelling requirements and seized the stocks to prevent them from reaching consumers.
