Bengaluru, June 20 -- Karnataka's flagship Gruha Lakshmi scheme, one of the cornerstone welfare programmes of the Congress government's guarantee agenda, came under a cloud on Saturday after the BJP cited alleged audit findings pointing to financial and administrative irregularities and demanded a CBI probe.
Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka alleged that findings highlighted in a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) audit has raised serious questions over the implementation of the scheme, which provides monthly financial assistance to women heads of households and has been projected by the Congress as a model of welfare governance.
