Bengaluru, Aug. 2 -- A dramatic turnaround in the southwest monsoon has transformed Karnataka's Cauvery water situation, with the state releasing nearly 25,000 cusecs of surplus water to Tamil Nadu as the Kabini reservoir neared full capacity, just days after protesting the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee's (CWRC) order to share river water.
The sudden improvement in reservoir inflows, driven by heavy rainfall in Kerala's Wayanad and the Cauvery catchment areas, has altered the backdrop for Sunday's all-party meeting convened by Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to deliberate on Karnataka's response to the long-running inter-state water dispute.
