Vijayapura, Nov. 9 -- The root cause of the sugarcane price dispute is the Central Government's Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) policy, said Karnataka Minister MB Patil. Patil stated that the State Government is offering Rs 700 more than the FRP fixed by the Centre, while the BJP is trying to politicise the issue and mislead farmers.

"We have reached a consensus with all the factory owners, and they have agreed to our decision. However, confusion persists in Bagalkote and Vijayapura," the Minister in charge of Vijayapura district told reporters.
