Bengaluru, July 14 -- Karnataka's iconic state anthem Jaya Bharata Jananiya Tanujate could be headed for its most significant revision since its adoption, with a government-appointed committee recommending the inclusion of a reference to Buddhism in the celebrated composition by national poet Kuvempu.
The recommendation, submitted to the Karnataka government by a committee headed by Kannada Development Authority Chairman Prof. Purushottam Bilimale, proposes revising the existing reference to Jainism to explicitly acknowledge Buddhism as well.
