Bengaluru, July 25 -- The Karnataka State Muslim Federation on Saturday demanded the immediate arrest of BJP MLC CT Ravi, alleging that his remarks linking the Muslim community to the NEET controversy amounted to hate speech, promoted communal disharmony and warranted criminal action.

In a statement, the federation said Ravi had insulted respected religious leaders of a particular community and sought to provoke religious divisions through his comments made at Chikkamagaluru.

It said a complaint had already been lodged against him by Chikkamagaluru Jamia Masjid president Mujahid Pasha, and urged the Karnataka government to register a case and arrest the BJP leader without delay.
