Bengaluru, June 7 -- Karnataka Minister for Urban Development Yathindra Siddaramaiah on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led Central government over the latest hike in domestic LPG prices, accusing it of "squeezing the common man" and pursuing policies that favour revenue collection over public welfare.
The minister said the Centre had failed to pass on the benefits of lower international crude oil prices to consumers in the past, but was now quick to burden households with higher cooking gas costs following the recent spike in global oil prices amid tensions in West Asia.
