Bengaluru, May 15 -- Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge on Friday called for a comprehensive review of the S.I.R. process, alleging that the current methodology was depriving people of their constitutional right to vote and weakening democratic principles.

"The S.I.R. needs to be reviewed. The methodology also needs to be reviewed. People are being denied their constitutional right to vote, and this manufactured mandate is not good for anyone. It is not healthy for democracy," Kharge told reporters here.

Referring to developments in different states, he said concerns linked to the process had surfaced in several regions of the country.
