Bengaluru, July 30 -- In a ruling with far-reaching implications for the controversial Bidadi township and the larger Bengaluru-Mysuru Infrastructure Corridor Project (BMICP), the Karnataka High Court has upheld the quashing of land acquisition proceedings, holding that there was "nothing nice" about the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE) project and observing that it appeared to be "one of the biggest scams" in the State.
The verdict assumes significance as the proposed Bidadi township, which has been at the centre of political and legal disputes over land acquisition and compensation, forms part of the five self-sustaining townships envisaged under the 1997 Framework Agreement governing the BMICP.
