Bengaluru, Jan. 20 -- Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara indicated that the government has not ruled out taking stricter action against DGP K Ramachandra Rao following the viral video controversy.

While Rao has been suspended immediately, the minister stressed that the inquiry will determine the next steps, which could include dismissal.

"Regardless of his seniority, the seriousness of the matter demanded immediate action," Parameshwara said, adding that the government will act decisively based on the findings of the probe.

He emphasised that the incident has embarrassed the police department and the administration as a whole.
