Bengaluru, Sept. 20 -- Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot today cautioned Chief Minister Siddaramaiah against including Christian identifiers such as 'Kumbara Christian' and 'Kuruba Christian' in the state's upcoming caste survey.
The Governor expressed concerns that such an inclusion could lead to "social disturbance, long-term complications and irreparable damage" to Karnataka's social fabric.
In a letter to the Chief Minister dated September 16, Gehlot urged a re-evaluation of the proposed survey methodology. He stated that a delegation of BJP MPs and legislators had approached him to voice objections regarding the survey, highlighting issues they perceived as contradictory and potentially destabilising.
