Bengaluru, April 9 -- Polling in the by-elections to two Assembly constituencies in Karnataka witnessed steady and enthusiastic voter participation, with moderate to brisk turnout recorded till 5 pm on Thursday, amid a keen contest between the ruling Congress and the BJP.

According to Election Commission data, Bagalkot constituency recorded an approximate voter turnout of 65.68 per cent, while Davanagere South registered 63.04 per cent as of 5 pm.

The polling, which began at 7 am, saw a gradual rise in voter participation through the day. Earlier trends indicated around 27 per cent turnout in Bagalkot and about 22 per cent in Davanagere South by late morning, which increased to over 54 per cent and nearly 50 per cent respectively by 3 pm,...
