Bengaluru, March 29 -- Projecting the upcoming by-elections in Karnataka as a referendum on the ruling Congress, Senior BJP leader and Legislative Council LoP Chalavadi Narayanaswamy on Sunday exuded confidence that the BJP would secure a clean sweep, while asserting that the party was gaining momentum across the country.

The bypolls are being held in Davanagere South and Bagalkot Assembly constituencies, where the BJP has fielded Srinivasa T Dasakariyappa and Veeranna (Veerabhadrayya) Charanthimath respectively, while the Congress has nominated Samarth Shamanur and Umesh Meti.
