Ballari, July 30 -- Karnataka Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka on Thursday warned that the BJP would launch a statewide "Chalo Hola Gadde" (March to the Fields) agitation from August 3 if the Congress government failed to immediately declare drought in the state.
Speaking to reporters after visiting drought-hit Karekal village in Ballari district, Ashoka alleged that farmers across Karnataka were facing severe crop losses due to scanty rainfall while the government had delayed declaring drought despite widespread distress.
