Bengaluru, July 17 -- The Karnataka High Court has quashed the 2022 NDPS case against actor Siddhanth Kapoor, in a ruling that could have far-reaching implications for narcotics investigations across the country, holding that criminal prosecution cannot be sustained solely on the basis of urine test reports from an unauthorised private laboratory without mandatory confirmatory forensic analysis.
Justice M Nagaprasanna, while allowing Kapoor's petition along with those of two co-accused, held that the prosecution's case was fundamentally flawed as it relied on a urine test conducted by a private laboratory that lacked statutory authorisation and was not supported by confirmatory tests such as Gas Chromatography or Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS)....
