Bengaluru, June 10 -- A major irregularity has surfaced in the Karnataka government's flagship Gruha Lakshmi scheme, with a technical audit reportedly revealing that nearly Rs 128 crore was transferred over the past five months to the bank accounts of about 1.48 lakh deceased beneficiaries.

The findings have triggered alarm within the state administration, prompting an emergency review and a proposed overhaul of beneficiary verification mechanisms.
