Shimla/New Delhi, March 18 -- Train services on the historic Kangra Valley Railway line have resumed on a key stretch after restoration works, though long-term strengthening measures are still in progress, the Centre informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

Replying to an unstarred question by Anurag Thakur, Railway Minister Ashhwini Vaishnaw said services had been disrupted following unprecedented rains in August 2022, which washed away piers of Chakki Khad Bridge No. 32 between Dalhousie Road and Nurpur Road stations.

He said the damaged bridge has now been reconstructed and the track declared fit for operations from Pathankot to Joginder Nagar. However, additional long-term strengthening works on the line are ongoing.
