Kangra, May 8 -- A total of 12,548 nomination papers have been filed in the first two days for the upcoming Panchayati Raj Institutions elections in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, officials said on Friday.

Assistant District Election Officer (Panchayat) Sachin Thakur told UNI that 5,989 nomination papers were filed on the second day of the process, while 6,559 nominations had been received on the opening day.

He said that on the second day alone, 2,454 nominations were filed for the post of Pradhan, 2,622 for Up-Pradhan, 6,358 for Ward Member, 988 for Panchayat Samiti Member and 126 for Zila Parishad Member.
