Dharamshala, Sept. 6 -- The Himachal Pradesh government is set to release awards worth Rs.1, 899 crore for land acquisition under the Kangra airport expansion project.

Earlier, awards amounting to Rs 596 crore had already been issued by the Land Acquisition Collector, Kangra, with Rs 460 crore disbursed through the District Tourism Development Officer to affected families.

Government sources told UNI that the responsibility for executing the awards has now been assigned to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Kangra. In view of financial constraints, the state government has extended the award period by another year, pushing the land acquisition deadline to August 15, 2026.
