Kolkata, July 7 -- The Kalighat faction of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Tuesday approached the Calcutta High Court after alleging that the police had denied permission for a rally proposed for Wednesday, in which former chief minister Mamata Banerjee is also likely to participate.
The matter was mentioned before the bench of Justice Sougata Bhattacharya by senior TMC leader and lawyer Kalyan Banerjee.
He informed the court that the police had refused to grant permission for the proposed procession.
The judge permitted the filing of a petition, and the matter is likely to be taken up for hearing at around 2 pm on Tuesday.
