Kakinada, July 25 -- Kakinada Traffic Police on Saturday launched a special enforcement drive against motorists using mobile phones while driving and vehicles fitted with modified silencers, imposing penalties on more than 100 two-wheeler riders.

The drive was conducted at Balaji Cheruvu Centre under the directions of Superintendent of Police Bindu Madhav.

Traffic Inspector Ramesh and his team stopped vehicles, penalised violators and counselled riders on the importance of adhering to traffic rules.

Inspector Ramesh said the use of mobile phones while driving was a major cause of road accidents, endangering not only the rider but also other road users.
