Kakinada, Aug. 4 -- Kakinada MP Thangella Uday Srinivas on Tuesday urged the union Ministry of Railways to introduce a weekend express train between Kakinada and Jodhpur in Rajasthan to meet the growing travel demand from passengers in the region.
In a letter to union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the MP said rail connectivity to North India had improved with the recent introduction of the Kakinada Town-Hisar Weekend Express, but the existing service was insufficient to meet passenger requirements.
He pointed out that while the Hisar-bound train operates via Jaipur, there is no direct rail connectivity from Kakinada to important destinations in western Rajasthan such as Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Pali, Jalore and Bhagat Ki Kothi.
