Kakinada, Aug. 24 -- The prime accused in the suicide of a Panchayat Raj Assistant Engineer's family of four by jumping into the Godavari river at Rajahmundry has been arrested in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, and brought to Kakinada for judicial remand, police said on Monday.
Kakinada District Superintendent of Police Garikipati Bindu Madhav said a special investigation team (SIT) apprehended Shaik Sadiq Khan in Meerut recently with the assistance of local police.
The accused was produced before a magistrate in Meerut and subsequently brought to Kakinada on a transit warrant, the SP said.
He was to be produced before the Kakinada Special Mobile Judicial First Class Magistrate Court after undergoing medical tests, the SP added.
