Kakinada, Sept. 8 -- AP Green Executive Committee Chairman and MLC Konidela Nagababu on Tuesday urged industrial units to expand green belts within their premises by planting local and suitable species to promote environmental protection and biodiversity conservation.
Nagababu made the appeal during his visit to Divis Laboratories at Ontimamidi village in Thondangi mandal of Kakinada district, where he inspected the company's green belt development and plantation initiatives.
He said industries should utilise available vacant spaces within their premises to increase green cover, giving priority to fast-growing plant species suitable for the local conditions.
