Bengaluru, April 22 -- A Bengaluru city court on Wednesday directed the Tumakuru police to register a First Information Report (FIR) against Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara over allegations that he admitted to placing a Rs 500 bet during a kabaddi tournament, triggering a political and legal controversy that has since gone viral.
The order was passed by the 42nd Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) court, presided over by Judge KN Shivakumar, in response to a private complaint filed by HR Nagabhushan. The complainant contended that the minister's public remarks amounted to the endorsement of betting, an activity prohibited under law.
