Mumbai, Aug. 25 -- Justice Sunil Balkrishna Shukre, former Judge of the Bombay High Court, was on Tuesday sworn in as the new Chairman of the Maharashtra Lokayukta Institution.
Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma administered the oath of office to Justice Shukre at a brief ceremony held at Lok Bhavan here.
The oath was administered under Section VI of the Maharashtra Lokayukta Act, 2023. Justice Shukre has been appointed for a term of five years or until he attains the age of 70, whichever is earlier.
